Project Schoolhouse's 4th school underway in Nicaragua

March 2011 marks the the start of construction of Project
Schoolhouse's 4th elementary school in Marillo, Nicaragua located
three miles up Mount Musun near Rio Blancol. In 2010 a community
clean water system was put in place with access points for 18 families
and running water installed to the proposed school site. Now, with
water available construction has begun on the new elementary school.

The project has been held up briefly as necessary work has been done
on the access road to the community needed to bring in building
materials. That road should be done in the next week or so and trucks
should begin arriving at the construction site soon after. Until
then, materials will be transported by horse and mule.

The proposed school is a two room school of 1000 sq ft and will
accommodate the community's 60 students. The school will be dry,
clean, have clean running water, and be secure enough for the
community to confidently begin to accumulate school supplies and
curriculum materials for the first time.

The school should be completed by early June 2011.
